SUBSIDENCE

Subsidence of the ground beneath a building foundation results in the downward movement of the building. Typically, differently which results in significant structural issues.

Early recognition of the signs greatly reduces the likely scope of repair. Our team supports projects throughout Colchester, Cambridge, and the wider UK.

Common signs to look for are cracks in walls, sticking doors and windows, sinking floors and gaps between extension and existing structure.

EAP's team of subsidence and geotechnical engineers are here to support the property owner every step of the way until a solution is achieved.

Factual Reports

Investigation into the case of the subsidence first start with an inspection by one of our subsidence engineers inspecting the property and preparing a report. Decision can then be made as to whether subsidence is the likely cause of damage, the most appropriate next steps can then be determined.

Diagnostic Investigations

In monitoring of cases, if the property is insured for the peril of subsidence, a claim is submitted to the insurer. The insurer will instruct a subsidence specialist to carry out investigations on their behalf.

A large proportion of subsidence claims are declined because they do not meet the policy criteria or result in a scope of repair unsatisfactory to the insured.

Remedial Design & Repair

We are mindful that the scope of repair to a property owner is extremely important. The solution should result in a full and complete repair to the damage caused by the subsidence and be carried out in a manner not to diminish the property value.

Over many years our team of subsidence specialists have successfully designed and supervised subsidence remediation schemes, together with resolutely negotiating insurance claims. Our aim is to conclude what can be a lengthy process as quickly as possible.
