LISTED

BUILDINGS

Any renovation, repair, or alteration to a Grade I or a Grade II listed building, including works to damaged structures, requires Listed Building and English Heritage consent.

Grade 1  Listed Buildings

Grade I listed properties are part of just 2.5% of Listed Buildings. These buildings are of high interest. The restrictions can vary depending on the building. However to demolish, alter or extend these types of buildings and your unable to alter the characterisitcs of the building in your plans. This also will inlcuded any type of other structure that is located on the grounds.

Grade II Listed Buildings

Grade II Listed Properties are also important and are part of just 5.5% of Listed Buildings. These properties are of particualry special interest or national importance. It's less liekly for these buildings to be private homes. 

Listed Building Consent

Listed Building consent is seperate from Planning submission and is required for any type of alteration or exstension to a Listed Building whether Grade I or Grade II listing. It is mandatory for permission prior to any works taking place.

English Heritage Consent 

Alongside the Listed Building consent it is also mandatory for you to obtain English Heritage consent as this will protect Englands heritage. It helps to keep a balanced and informed approach when managing chang in historic places.
